The balance
There is a lot of balancing going on here in Malawi. Not only am I learning the art of balancing on one leg, Thandie and I are working on finding a balance between me laying in bed like a blob (her idea) and me doing what I would have done before (my idea). On a more serious note, Thandie’s brother lays in the balance between life and death. Thandie’s family is balancing between advocating strong for him and not making the doctors frustrated to the point where they won’t help at all. Lots of balancing and leaning on the Lord.
The swelling is going down in my foot. Praise the Lord! Tomorrow I hope to get the cast on. Not that I really want it on, but the 3 week count down to getting it off doesn’t start till I get it on.
Today I am going to town! WooHoo! I am so ready for an outing. I am going just to the internet cafĂ© and then to meet Thandie’s Aunt Mary who is in town just for the day. I would really like to visit Thandie’s brother in the hospital but she won’t let me go, maybe after I get the plaster cast. She says I would have to walk very far and the cement is slippery and uneven. So for now I am just going to be grateful for my one small outing. Thandie has been taking great care of me but, she thinks I am made of glass. I have learned that Malawi is not very handicapped accessible. It is quite an obstacle course to get me from Thandie’s house to the road where the car is. So far I haven’t left Thandie’s house since I broke the foot. There are many narrow and short steps from here to there. With my big foot, very sore good leg and two wore out crutches, I really am a site to behold. I am determined to master it.
The Jorgensons headed out this morning for a day trip to the new property in Ntcheu. It’s about a 4 hour drive. I am still holding out hope of making the trip there. Of course they wouldn’t take me today, but I am hoping Brother Gentry will let me go when he gets here.
All the children at Good Samaritan are doing well. Praise the Lord!

Hello Chrissie,
God bless you Sister. I was sitting here reading the blog site and my heart was aching to be in Malawi. But I don't envy you being there with a broken foot!!!! I can't imagine - I'm so glad you were able to get good medical care. I know that Malawi just doesn't have the facilities that we in the USA have been blessed with. But God is good (ALL the time) as you know. We certainly are praying for you in so many ways; your travel, your ministry, your visits to the villages, your HEALTH, so much to pray about. It sure will be interesting to get to Heaven and find out why these strange things happen. But I've learned that God always has a reason for what He allows us to go through. Blessings to you and everyone in Malawi - We love the people there so much. Please give Thandie a big hug for us - Mike will see her in September when he goes over to drill more water wells. We recently had a meeting at a very small church (about 25 people strong) and they gave enough money for a well !!! Praise the Lord !!!! We have another meeting this coming Sunday evening at a church that is well aware of the work Mike does in Malawi. But they asked us to come and share our pictures from last year's visit. I always ask God to speak to other hearts about going to Malawi. As you know, once you go you never forget the place or the people. Malawi truly is "The Warm Heart of Africa". Take care Chrissie, and know that we are indeed praying for you. Give each child at GSCH a big hug from Bro. Mike and Sister Arlene. Hugs to you.
Glad to read the current posts. I have tried several time to call you but the phone does not ring sometimes and then it has a funny ring. But I will keep trying. I am so happy to hear that you have recieved good medical help and that your leg is not quite as swollen. We will keep praying for you. Aiden was quite concern about you.
Oh my; I'm glad the Lord has blessed you with good medical care while you're in Malawi. I'm thankful that the "fracture" isn't complete and you won't be needing surgery (and a longer cast). Thandie sounds like such a wonderful person and "mother" to you.
Chrissie Glad to hear your doing OK. I spoke with your dad and he was ready to renew his passport. Thanks for giving all the details in your blog. Please e-mail your grandma and me with updates. Tell Thandie I like her idea best. Take care of yourself. Love MOM
Chrissie,
Thanks for posting about your foot/leg on your blog. I heard you broke your leg, but couldn't get any details out of anyone else. So, I'm glad I could come to the blog and see how you were doing. I'm glad to hear that it's not as bad as it could've been. And now I will be praying for the swelling in both of my cousins ankles to go down. :) I hope that you heal up fast. Take care of yourself. Love, Tammy
