Day 22 in Malawi, September 5

Peanut had a great first night. I had to wake her up at 2 am to eat and then she woke up on her own at 6:30 to eat again. She is eating and going to bathroom like a pro. I was very excited when she made her first #2 diaper, but now that I have changed six #2's in cloth diapers....the excitement has worn off. Today she had one of a few important medical exams/tests. She is a very fragile little girl, but I know that God has a special plan for her. It is such a honor to care for this little angel. I feel like I am in the Little House on the Prairie, she sits in my lap in the car, sleeps in a drawer, wears cloth diapers and has a little bonnet. I hope to post her complete story tomorrow, just waiting on a couple of test results. But in the meantime because I have had a few adoption inquiries about little Peanut, she has been matched to an adoptive family in America who has an approved adoptive homestudy. The adoption is in progress. I haven't made the official announcement at this point because of some outstanding medical tests. Stay tuned.... Please continue to pray for her.

Eight months ago today, Ivy, one of our sweetest orphans when home to be with the Lord. Today we went to Ivy's grave. It was sad, but we rejoiced that Ivy was not actually there in the ground but in Heaven, where she is not longer sick and in pain.

Prayer request:
Today marked the first day of a three day testing period for our 8th graders. We have 14 students taking the primary school completion exam. This is a very important exam as the children can not move on to secondary school without passing. There is also pressure for our kids to do well as it affects how the government views our Good Samaritan School. If our children do not pass, they could shut down our school. The children have to take the test at an off campus location with armed guards watching to make sure they aren't cheating. Can you imagine taking a test sitting next to a guy with a gun watching you. Please pray for them.

Also please pray for me as I think I am catching Peace's cold, which could be dangerous for peanut.

Does Peace still want to be known as Shalom?

Is Peanut the daughter of Chrissie (mother of twins)? Our church (Bible Way Baptist) is prayerfully following your blogs and we are a bit confused. We were thinking Peanut is one of the surviving twins that was born to Chrissie-who also had twins on your last visit. If she is, what will happen to the other set of twins should mama die?

Peanut is the daughter of Chrissie. At this point the family is not willing to relinquish the twins. The mother and grandmother are caring for one twin and the other twin and 10 year old brother are with a relative in the father's village. I will help the family place the twins with a family in America if they decide that is what they want. The social welfare department is now aware of this situation and will also be keeping an eye on the twins.
