This will be my last post from Malawi as I begin my journey back to San Diego in the morning. I will arrive in San Diego on Sunday at 11am.
Today we spent from 9am until 4pm finalizing the passport and birth certificate paperwork for Savannah-Hope. We were told the passport would take 3 to 6 months and the birth certificate would take 4 to 6 weeks. Well God gave us another miracle and Savannah-Hope will have her passport before noon tomorrow and her birth certificate on Monday! Praise the Lord! Things are moving forward for her journey home but it hasn’t been and without long days, much driving, lots of paperwork, many signatures, appointments, meetings, money and especially prayer. I am hopeful that Savannah-Hope will just be the first of many children that will be given the opportunity at a long and healthy life with a family who adores them. I have to say though that when we get a nursery started it will need its own vehicle and its own driver. Brother Gentry has been so patient and generous to allow us to use one of the children’s home vehicles and at least one main children’s home staff member each day all day since we have had Savannah. She has either had a medical appointment, immigration appointment, or needing some papers to be signed. She is of course totally worth it, but definitely not in the Good Samaritan budget.
I have finished packing. It was much easier and faster to pack one bag instead of five!
Brother Gentry rested today. He said that “there is room for improvement, but I am still alive”. He is planning on going to the airport tomorrow to see the Jorgensons and I off and pick up the Carriers from West Virginia.
Raxon’s baby has been named Heath after Heath Spivey in North Carolina.
I ran out of internet units for Thandie's house so I am now at the Internet Cafe typing this quickly on the way to the airport. I wanted to do a trip in review post, but it will have to wait until I get to San Diego. I will be able to post lots of pictures once I am there as well. Thanks for the prayers!

I look forward to reading your posts once you get home. I am excited to think about all the pictures you'll be sharing as well. I am praying for a safe and uneventful trip home for all of you-and of course that God will comfort your heart as you leave the country and people you love so much. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I'm sorry that you had to leave Savannah behind, but I know that God will take care of her as He prepares her for her journey home to the States. I can't wait to see the pictures either. I hope you had a very safe trip home...I've been gone all weekend and just got back about an hour ago, so I didn't know you were leaving this weekend to come home. How's your foot/leg doing? Are you going to your doctor now that you're home? Hope so.
Chrissie,
I can't believe your trip is over so quickly. I can't begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed sharing the adventures you have shared with us. Tears are running down my face as I think about you leaving Malawi. I suppose you are home by now (midnight Sunday/Monday morning here in Maryland). I hope you had a good trip home. Thanks so much for the wonderful journey you gave me sitting here in the comfort of my American home. We take so much for granted - don't we?
I look forward to seeing more pictures and reading more updates of Savannah-Hope and all the other precious people in Malawi. What a story Savannah-Hope will have when she grows up. Praise the Lord !!
Hugs to you,
Arlene Shanaberger
